Contract details

- Rate: $75–$85 per hour plus superannuation.

- Duration: ASAP start until 30 September 2027.

- Extension: One 12-month extension option.

- Location: Canberra, full-time in the office, five days per week.

- Security: Minimum current NV1 security clearance.

About the opportunity

Booka Consulting is seeking a talented Graphic Design and Intranet Support Officer to support a Federal Government department’s ICT communications team.

Working at the APS6-equivalent level, you will turn complex technology information into clear, engaging visual products and digital content for staff across Australia and overseas.

This is an opportunity to combine solid design skills with intranet publishing, supporting technology initiatives, cyber security awareness campaigns and service updates.

What you’ll do

- Design campaign assets, banners, carousels, presentations, guidance materials and templates.

- Develop, publish and maintain intranet pages using SharePoint Online.

- Apply visual identity, accessibility and usability standards across documents and digital products.

- Work with communications and technical stakeholders to translate briefs into effective visual content.

- Support page layouts, information architecture, content reviews and quality assurance.

- Maintain reusable templates, asset libraries and design resources.

- Manage competing requests while delivering quality work within agreed timeframes.

You will work under the Creative Director,



with scope to exercise creative judgement and provide coordination and acting support when required.

What you’ll bring

- Demonstrated skilled experience in graphic design and visual communication.

- A strong portfolio covering digital design, layout, branding and publications.

- Experience applying accessibility, usability and visual identity requirements.

- The ability to interpret briefs, provide creative advice and simplify complex information.

- Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to work independently within an established creative direction.

Experience with SharePoint Online, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint design, ICT communications, UX or content design will be highly regarded.

Relevant qualifications are desirable, although equivalent professional experience and a strong portfolio will also be considered. Guidance and training in UX and accessibility are available for a candidate with strong design capability and the aptitude to develop these skills.

This role requires Canberra-based office attendance. Remote working is not available. Applicants must hold a current NV1 clearance or higher to be considered.
