A well-established technology services organisation needs a hands-on AWS Security Engineer to help secure a large government cloud setting. The focus is practical: getting cloud-native security tooling configured properly, building controls as code, and making sure the environment stays compliant and audit-ready.

The role
Configure and manage AWS security services, with GuardDuty at the core
Build and tune detection rules and alerts that the security operations team actually uses
Write infrastructure as code to deploy and harden security controls
Automate evidence collection and reporting
Contribute to security documentation, monitoring plans and incident playbooks
Work closely with engineering and operations teams, with plenty of autonomy

What you’ll bring




Hands-on AWS security experience, including GuardDuty
Experience designing and tuning security alerts
Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation or similar)
Scripting and automation skills
Understanding of Australian Government security frameworks such as the ISM and Essential 8
Australian citizenship and willingness to obtain Baseline clearance

Valuable to have
Experience supporting security accreditation or audits
Government or consulting delivery background
