RN - Mackay Base Hospital - Coronary Care Unit (CCU)

Mackay Base Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (Grade 5) to join its Coronary Care Unit on a 16-week contract from November 2026 through February 2027. This is a rotating shift role offering the opportunity to deliver high-level cardiac nursing care in a specialist workplace. The successful candidate will work across 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts, with a maximum of 80 hours per fortnight, and will be part of a dedicated team managing complex coronary patients.
Specialist coronary care nursing in a busy acute hospital setting

Work alongside experienced cardiac specialists in a supportive clinical workplace

Preferred Requirements
Mandatory CCU experience; demonstrated competence in coronary care nursing




Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (must be included with your application)
Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to recognise acute cardiac changes
Experience with cardiac monitoring equipment and interpretation of ECG findings
Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced clinical setting

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent, with current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Post-graduate qualification or certification in cardiac or critical care nursing
Additional training in acute coronary syndrome management or interventional cardiology support
