Hays is partnering with a well-established and growing Australian business to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Manager.
Operating across multiple divisions and backed by a strong leadership team, this organisation is focused on process excellence, continuous improvement and maintaining a robust financial control workplace.
This is a rare opportunity for a senior Accounts Payable professional who enjoys balancing strategic ownership with hands-on involvement.
You will take full responsibility for the AP function while remaining close to the day-to-day operations, troubleshooting complex issues and supporting your team through peak periods.
Your new role
Owning and improving end-to-end accounts payable processes across multiple business units
Managing payment controls, approval workflows and supplier master data integrity
Monitoring creditor days and supporting working capital objectives
Ensuring compliance with relevant tax, reporting and regulatory requirements
Leading month-end AP activities, reconciliations and audit support
Investigating complex transactional and system-related issues
Partnering with operational stakeholders to improve purchasing and approval disciplines
Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing accounts payable team
Supporting ERP,



automation and continuous improvement projects
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience leading an Accounts Payable function within a high-volume, multi-entity environment
Strong understanding of payment controls, compliance requirements and fraud prevention
Demonstrated experience managing and developing AP teams
Advanced ERP and Excel skills
Strong reconciliation and analytical capabilities
The ability to influence stakeholders and challenge processes where required
A hands-on approach with the willingness to work in detail when needed
Experience within industrial, construction, mining services, wholesale or similar environments will be highly regarded
