Functional Safety Engineer / Specialist Perth, WA | Permanent Opportunity | Flexible Working Arrangements A specialist engineering consultancy is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to join its growing safety and risk team.
This position offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across heavy industry, energy, resources and critical infrastructure environments.
Working alongside experienced process safety, automation and engineering professionals, you'll help clients identify, assess and manage operational risks while ensuring compliance with recognised functional safety standards.
The opportunity This is a consultancy-focused role where no two projects are the same.
You'll be involved in everything from early project studies through to detailed design reviews, operational risk assessments and ongoing asset support.
You'll provide independent technical advice and work closely with engineering teams, asset owners and operators to improve safety performance across complex industrial facilities.
ResponsibilitiesFacilitate risk assessment workshops including HAZOP, LOPA and SIL studiesDeliver functional safety assessments throughout the SIS lifecycleDevelop and review Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS)Prepare Functional Safety Management Plans and verification documentationConduct compliance,



gap and audit reviews against industry standardsSupport safety-instrumented system design and validation activitiesProvide technical guidance on risk reduction strategies and protection layersInterface with multidisciplinary engineering and operational teamsAbout you You will bring:Engineering qualifications in Electrical, Mechatronic, Process, Chemical, Instrumentation or a related disciplineExperience in functional safety, process safety or industrial risk managementWorking knowledge of IEC *****, IEC ***** and related industry standardsExperience facilitating formal risk workshops within industrial environmentsStrong technical writing and stakeholder engagement skillsExposure to control systems, instrumentation or automation projects would be highly regardedFunctional Safety certification or a commitment to obtaining certificationWhy apply?
