Highly regarded in their industry, our client is a specialist engineering and construction business delivering structural solutions for major building and infrastructure projects. With a strong pipeline of work for the foreseeable future, the business is investing in its finance team to support its Victorian operations through an exciting period of growth.
The Opportunity n
We're looking for a capable Assistant Accountant who wants more than a transactional role. Reporting to the Senior Accountant and working closely with the Financial Controller and operational leaders, you'll own month-end and project accounting, and become a trusted point of contact for the project teams. It's a broad, wide-ranging role that gives you real exposure to how a construction business runs and makes money, plus the backing to keep developing your career.
What you'll be doing n
n
Owning the month-end close across AP, AR, fixed assets, bank reconciliations and the general ledger, including accruals
n
Working with project managers to set up job budgets and KPIs at project handover, and providing ongoing financial analysis
n
Preparing and recording progress claims, and tracking retentions
n
Maintaining the cash flow model, tracking revenue, costs and retentions,



and reconciling to the bank
n
Managing debtors, including RCTIs and collections
n
Processing weekly site-based payroll in line with EBA requirements
n
Processing accounts payable and supplier compliance
n
Maintaining the asset register and supporting the CAPEX and depreciation process
n
Supporting stocktakes and inventory management
n
Helping drive consistent finance processes and systems across the business
n
About you n
n
A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
n
CA or CPA qualified, or currently studying towards it (study support is available)
n
Ideally 3+ years' post-graduate experience, with confidence running month-end independently
n
Construction, contracting or project accounting experience is highly regarded, particularly progress claims, retentions and EBA payroll
n
Jobpac experience is a real advantage, though SAP, Pronto or similar ERP experience is also welcome
n
Strong Excel skills and a sharp eye for detail
n
A proactive, self-motivated approach and the confidence to work with project managers and senior stakeholders
n
