About the Role
n
This is a hands-on Payroll Team Leader position leading a team of four experienced Payroll Officers. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the team while ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, compliantly and within required deadlines.
n You'll coach and develop your team, allocate workloads, manage escalations and act as a key point of contact across the business. You'll also remain close enough to the payroll to step in and provide processing support when required.
n Key responsibilities will include:

Leading, coaching and developing a team of four experienced Payroll Officers
n
Allocating and managing workloads to ensure payroll deadlines and service levels are achieved
n
Ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and on time
n
Reviewing and releasing pay batches
n
Monitoring payroll accuracy, compliance and data integrity
n
Managing complex payroll queries, escalations and overpayments
n
Ensuring statutory, regulatory and reporting obligations are met
n
Managing payroll banking activities and payment approvals
n
Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and supporting branch requirements
n




Supporting and acting as a delegate for the Payroll Manager when required

About You
n
This role would suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys both the technical and people sides of payroll. You may already be working as a Payroll Team Leader, or you could be an experienced Senior Payroll Officer or 2IC ready to take the next step into formal leadership.
n You'll ideally bring:

Strong end-to-end payroll experience
n
Previous experience leading, mentoring and supporting other payroll professionals
n
Robust knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance
n
Confidence resolving complex payroll queries and escalations
n
Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail
n
Strong organisation and time-management skills
n
The ability to prioritise competing deadlines in a busy payroll environment
n
A practical, approachable leadership style and strong communication skills
n
A proactive and solutions-focused approach
