Job Description
Start a trade in a genuine custom, local, family-owned joinery workshop. RW Joiners is taking on a first-year Apprentice Joiner for a full time apprenticeship in our Toowoomba workshop. Adult apprentices are welcome to apply. You will learn custom solid-timber joinery, on varied one-off projects for clients with high standards and commercial properties.
You will learn n
n
Safe use of hand tools, portable tools and workshop machinery as your competence grows.
n
Timber identification, selection and machining.
n
Traditional joinery, including mortise-and-tenon construction.
n
Manufacture of timber doors and windows, curved work and mouldings, and more.
n
Reading shop drawings and cutting lists, and installing on site.

What you need to bring n
n
A genuine interest in becoming a skilled Joiner.
n
Reliable attendance, punctuality and a willingness to work.
n
Attention to detail, patience and care with materials.
n
Willingness to listen, accept correction and ask questions.
n




Commitment to attend all TAFE blocks and complete all bookwork and assessments.
n
Reliable transport to the workshop. Drivers license is required.
n
Willingness to work overtime and work away from Toowoomba for onsite installs (living away allowances paid). Occasional weekend work may be required, dependent upon work deadlines.

Any previous trade or construction experience.
n
A White Card. We arrange the course before your first site visit.
n
A full toolkit. You buy tools progressively, with guidance and some tools are provided.

What we offer n
n
Certificate III in Joinery through TAFE Queensland in Brisbane. Time at TAFE is paid as a normal working day.
n
A 38-hour week with a 1:00 pm Friday finish.
n
Above the award apprentice wages, with penalty rates for overtime and time living away from home.
