Sr. Java Developer‐Applications Programmer
Participates in the design, development and implementation of complex applications, often using new technologies. May provide technical direction and system architecture for individual initiatives. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource. Will not have direct reports but may lead projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants. Java/J2EE experience is a must. Must have excellent software design and documentation skills. Experience with the development models and software development lifecycle (SDLC) model. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

Key Responsibilities
Design, architect, develop and test software solutions consistent with the development life‐cycle process (SDLC), interacting (when necessary) with other general management and staff members in drawing up the technical specification or plans for architecture, code, databases, integration and testing.
Develop solutions within the project plan guidelines, following the business requirements and technical specifications, keeping strongly within delivery timelines.
Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.




Lead and create software and technical designs for the realization of highly complex development solutions.
Develop strategy to ensure high‐quality code and long‐term maintenance of a product's code base.
Provide specialist technical advice on software development and maintenance.
Lead the release and ensure go‐live production support and maintenance for the team's developments.
Lead analysis, design, software development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activities.
Review and undertake high‐level analysis of technical requirements to support project evaluation with proposed solutions.
Ensure compliance with endorsed software development methodologies.
Investigate and resolve highly complex ICT issues.
Lead a positive risk management culture.
Engage and manage stakeholder relationships and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability.
Contribute to business and strategic workforce planning, and drive the development of local strategies to improve key performance measures.
Manage business objectives and implement strategic priorities to achieve outcomes.
Lead the development and delivery of projects within the assigned area of responsibility.
Technical Expertise & Experience
Significant commercial Java experience (Java 8 or later).
Experience using Spring/Hibernate in web applications and services.
Experience with React or Angular, SQL, RESTful APIs and OAuth or other distributed security mechanisms.
Highly proficient with a Java IDE, Git, Maven and Gradle.
AWS cloud setup and architecture experience.
Source management tools such as Git.
5+ years commercial experience as a Java Developer and/or Lead.
Microservices experience is beneficial.
Cloud experience in AWS, Azure or GCP.
