OVERVIEW Flinders University is seeking a part-time Social Media Officer (Chinese Channels) based at Bedford Park on a fixed-term 12-month appointment. This higher education opportunity sits within the Marketing and Student Recruitment team and focuses on building the university presence in China through engaging social media content and online community engagement. The role is suited to a professional with strong Mandarin Chinese and English communication skills who can create digital content, monitor performance, and support student recruitment initiatives. The position contributes to Flinders strategic goals by connecting with prospective students through creative storytelling and digital campaigns.
Key responsibilities
Create and share engaging content across Chinese social media channels, with a strong focus on Xiaohongshu (RED)
Build and maintain active online communities by responding to audiences and encouraging engagement
Track social media performance and use insights to improve content and grow audiences
Collaborate with colleagues across the university to showcase student stories and support international student recruitment
Support digital campaigns designed to connect with prospective students in China
Contribute to awareness-building activities for Flinders University through social media and storytelling
Requirements




Experience creating high-quality social media content including videos, photography, and written posts
Robust understanding of Chinese social media platforms, particularly Xiaohongshu (RED), trends, and audience interests
Native-level written and spoken communication skills in Mandarin Chinese and advanced English communication skills
Ability to review social media results and identify opportunities for improvement
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
