Urban Development & Public Infrastructure | Sydney
Team Leadership, Client Development & Strategic Growth
Highly Competitive Salary Package
An outstanding opportunity is available for an accomplished Civil Program Manager or Principal Civil Engineer to help lead the continued development, delivery and growth of an established civil engineering team in Sydney.
Joining a highly regarded, nationally connected multidisciplinary consultancy, you will take a senior position combining technical and project leadership, client management, commercial responsibility and business development.
The team delivers a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure projects across both the private and public sectors. This includes urban development projects for respected developers, together with infrastructure and public works for councils and other government clients.
This is an opportunity to manage and grow your own portfolio while contributing to the broader strategic direction of the Sydney civil team. You will work alongside an experienced and collaborative leadership group, with the support and resources of a successful national business.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the planning, design and delivery of civil engineering projects
- Managing your own portfolio of private and public-sector clients
- Overseeing projects from initial proposal and concept development through to detailed design and delivery
- Maintaining high standards across technical quality, commercial performance, programming and client service
- Developing existing client relationships and identifying new project opportunities
- Contributing to tenders, proposals, fee submissions and project negotiations
- Supporting the strategic growth and market position of the Sydney civil team
- Providing leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to engineers and designers
- Working collaboratively with other disciplines, offices and senior leaders across the wider business
- Helping build a positive, capable and commercially successful team
About You
You will be an experienced civil engineering professional who combines strong project-delivery capability with commercial awareness and genuine relationship-building skills.
Ideally, you will offer:
- A degree qualification in Civil Engineering
- At least 10 years of relevant consulting experience, including a minimum of five years within the Australian market
- Strong experience across urban development, civil infrastructure, public works or local government projects
- A proven ability to manage projects, programs, budgets, resources and client expectations
- Established relationships across the Sydney or broader NSW civil engineering market
- Experience generating opportunities and converting relationships into meaningful project work
- The credibility and communication skills to engage confidently with developers, councils,
government stakeholders and project partners
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian and NSW engineering standards and approval processes
- The ability to lead, mentor and bring out the best in others
- A practical, collaborative and team-focused approach
Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation would be well regarded but is not essential where substantial relevant experience can be demonstrated.
The Opportunity
This role offers considerably more than day-to-day project delivery. You will have the autonomy to develop your own client and project portfolio while influencing the continued growth of the civil discipline in Sydney.
You will join an impressive, down-to-earth team within a multidisciplinary consultancy that works across private development and community-focused public infrastructure. The culture is supportive and collaborative, with genuine access to senior decision-makers and opportunities to work across disciplines and locations.
A highly competitive salary package (circa $150-180k +) will be negotiated to reflect the experience, relationships and value you bring. For the right person, this represents a significant long-term career opportunity with the scope to strengthen your profile, expand your leadership responsibilities and play an important role in the future direction of the business.
