Support Workers – Community Access & SIL

At Zest Project Co, we do disability support a bit differently.

We’re not about just filling shifts. For us, it’s all about building real relationships, being practical, and

making a proper difference in someone’s day-to-day life.

We support participants across Adelaide, including the Southern, Eastern, Western and Northern suburbs.

About Us

We’re a South Australian NDIS-registered provider offering disability support, Supported Independent Living, and allied health. Everything we do is neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and LGBTQIA+ affirming.

We live by three basic values: Hungry, Humble, and Smart.

- Hungry – willing to learn, improve and take initiative.
- Humble – respectful, open to feedback and willing to work as part of a team.
- Smart – thoughtful in how we communicate, make decisions and respond to challenges.

We hold high standards because we care about the quality of support our participants get every single day.

The Roles

We’re growing and looking for Full-Time and Casual Support Workers across two different areas.

1. Support Worker – Community Access

This role is all about helping people get out and about and live full lives. You’ll support participants to get into their local community, build everyday skills, try new things, and work towards what matters to them.

The role may include:

- Getting out into the community and supporting social activities
- Helping build independence and everyday life skills
- Being a calm, steady presence for daily routines and emotional regulation
- Following positive behaviour support plans
- Driving participants to activities and appointments
- Writing clear, respectful case notes and keeping families and allied health teams in the loop

Who you are:

You’ll fit right in if you have experience in disability support, or relevant lived or volunteer experience that helps you connect with people easily. We work with folks from all walks of life, including neurodivergent people, LGBTQIA+ community members, and culturally diverse backgrounds; so, respecting who people are and how they communicate is essential.

(Note: Experience with seizure management, Midazolam, diabetes management, or subcutaneous injections is a big plus)

2. Support Worker – SIL / High Intensity

We are also seeking experienced Support Workers for participants with complex and high-intensity support needs within Supported Independent Living environments.

Applicants for these roles should have practical experience and certifications in areas such as:

- Working in SIL, 24/7 support, or complex care environments is highly regarded.
- Hands-on experience with PEG/PEJ feeding
- Medication administration (including PRN)
- Complex bowel care, including enemas
- Personal care, manual handling, and protected transfers
- Following clinical and health support plans.

(Note: Experience with and Certification in Manual Handling and Medication Administration is essential.)

What We Look For

Across both roles, we are looking for people who are:

- Reliable and consistent
- Comfortable working independently while remaining part of a wider team

- Clear and professional communicators
- Able to write accurate and respectful case notes
- Calm and responsive when situations change
- Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Open to feedback, supervision and ongoing learning
- Respectful of participants’ choices, routines, communication styles and individual needs

Essential Requirements

- Right to work in Australia
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance

What We Offer

- SCHADS Award pay and conditions
- Full-Time and Casual opportunities
- Structured onboarding and role-specific training
- Ongoing training and room to grow
- A supportive, approachable leadership team
- Real opportunities to step into senior roles down the track as we grow

How to Apply

If this sounds like you, please send through:

1. Your current resume
2. Your availability and preferred role type (Full-Time or Casual)
3. A short cover letter telling us which role you’re applying for and answering these quick questions:

- For SIL / High Intensity: Please outline your hands-on experience with PEG/PEJ feeding, medication administration, bowel care, seizure management and working within SIL or other 24/7 support environments.
- For Community Access: Please tell us about your experience supporting people in the community, including paid, volunteer, personal or lived experience that is relevant to the role.
