Joyce Mechanical Services is a locally owned and operated business specialising in major overhauls of Caterpillar and Komatsu mining fleets. From our purpose-built Mackay facility, we deliver full “zero-hour” rebuilds and component overhauls for some of Queensland’s largest mining operations.

As a Painter and Blaster, you’ll be responsible for preparing, blasting, and painting mining machinery to meet both aesthetic and industry standards. Working within a small, results-driven team, you’ll work with a wide range of heavy equipment and components with precision and pride. This role is Monday to Friday, Mackay workshop based.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, clean, and strip metal surfaces through sandblasting, abrasive blasting, and chemical treatments.

- Apply high-quality industrial coatings to mining machinery, ensuring a durable and skilled finish.

- Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, paint, and other contaminants for optimal coating adhesion.





- Maintain and calibrate painting and blasting equipment for maximum performance and efficiency.

- Follow all safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Requirements

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in painting and blasting, ideally within the mining or heavy equipment industry.

- Strong knowledge of surface preparation and coating techniques, including abrasive blasting and industrial-grade paint application.

- Solid understanding of painting materials, blasting processes, and surface treatment methods.

- Relevant trade certifications in industrial painting and/or blasting.

- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
