Inside Trumps: Real Food, Real People, Real Growth
Trumps Pty Ltd is a proudly Australian, third generation business based in Queensland. For almost 90 years, we’ve been sourcing, processing and supplying premium dry food products, from nuts and seeds to grains, legumes and dried fruit, to some of the country’s biggest supermarket brands, food service providers and bulk food retailers.
We’re on a mission to put a Trumps product in every pantry, and we’re building the team to get us there.
Our values guide everything we do:
- We keep each other and our products safe
- We succeed by working together
- We deliver a great customer experience
- We think outside the square and embrace change
- We care for people, quality, the environment and society
At Trumps, what you do matters — and how you do it matters even more.
Strategic Oversight. Real Influence. On Your Terms.
Our finance team is in great shape: capable, self-functioning and growing, with a pricing accountant and cost analyst just joining. What they need now isn’t daily direction. It’s experienced leadership from above the detail.
That’s where you come in. As our Fractional CFO, you’ll spend around two days a week reviewing the financials, holding us to account and setting the course, without the day-to-day.
We’re open to what this looks like. You might be a semi-retired CFO keen to share your knowledge for the next few years, or a consultant wanting a steady, long-term commitment. Either way, we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll play a key part in:
- Reviewing the monthly financials and reporting prepared by the team, and providing assurance to the leadership team
- Setting financial strategy and direction across budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and risk and compliance
- Leading the preparation of longer-range forecasts to support strategic planning and growth
- Presenting budgets and financial accounts to key stakeholders, including our financiers and bank
- Holding the business to account on financial performance, and advising on key commercial decisions
- Being the senior point of contact for a self-sufficient finance team covering Payroll and General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Credit Management, Business Analysis, Pricing and Cost Accounting, with regular check-ins and guidance rather than daily direction
- Guiding the business through growth and change, including site consolidation
- Advising on where systems, automation and AI can make the finance function even more efficient
You’ll join an open, practical, no-ego leadership team who talk straight and expect the same in return.
What You’ll Bring
- CA or CPA qualification, with a degree in Commerce or Accounting
- Substantial experience as a CFO, Finance Director or in a board-level finance role, ideally within manufacturing, FMCG or food production
- A strong governance, risk and compliance background, and the confidence to review financials critically and challenge where needed
- Experience with plant or cost accounting
- A coaching leadership style: available, supportive and trusting, rather than hands-on in the detail
- The ability to translate financial insight into plain language for non-financial stakeholders
- Pronto experience desirable (or a similar ERP system)
- Interest in a longer-term engagement, ideally two to three years
Good Work Deserves Good Things
- A flexible, fractional arrangement of two days per week,
with the days and structure shaped around you
- Open to part-time employment (pro rata), a day rate or a monthly retainer, whichever suits you best
- A capable, self-sufficient team that values guidance, not micromanagement
- A seat at the leadership table in a values-led, family-owned business with real growth ahead
- A straight-talking, no-ego leadership team who will back your advice
- Staff discounts through our pantry shop, and involvement in causes we care about, including the Children’s Hospital Foundation
If This Feels Right, It Probably Is
This isn’t a traditional CFO job. It’s a chance to put years of finance leadership to work where it counts: shaping the direction of a respected, growing Australian business, on terms that suit you.
