About the Company

Established in 2000, Dural Christmas Tree Farm is Sydney's largest fresh Christmas tree farm. The business supplies fresh Christmas trees directly from the farm, as well as pre-cut Christmas trees, and provides services including netting, delivery, installation in Cinco Christmas tree stands, collection, and recycling. The Purple Lion Group Pty Ltd operates and manages Christmas tree plantations and requires an experienced Tree Worker to assist with the hands-on care, maintenance, treatment, and removal of trees across its plantation operations.

About the Role

Dural Christmas Tree Farm is seeking a full-time Tree Worker to carry out the practical, hands-on care and maintenance of Christmas trees and other tree assets across the plantation. Reporting to the Manager, the Tree Worker will prune and shape trees, treat trees for pests and disease, remove dead or decaying trees, access trees at height where required, and maintain the plantation growing environment. This role is suited to a practical tree-care worker with strong skills in pruning, safe equipment use, chemical handling, and plantation-based tree maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Prune limbs and shape branches of Christmas trees and other trees using chainsaws and handsaws to promote healthy growth, safety, presentation, and commercial quality.

• Maintain and care for trees and shrubs, including planting young trees, watering, fertilising, and weed control.

• Treat trees for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, including the safe application of sprays, chemicals, and fertilisers.





• Examine trees to assess their condition and identify risks associated with falling limbs or trees, and carry out the required treatment.

• Remove dead, decaying, damaged, or unsuitable trees, and grind out tree stumps.

• Access trees at height using rope access, harnesses, and elevated work platforms where required.

• Maintain irrigation systems, tools, machinery, and plantation areas to ensure safe and effective tree management operations.

• Manage, recycle, or dispose of tree waste in accordance with business and safety requirements.

• Assist with general plantation and farm maintenance duties as required.

• Supervise and train casual staff in safe tree care, pruning, chemical handling, maintenance, and recycling practices.

Skills

• Practical skill in pruning, trimming, shaping, planting, and maintaining trees safely and effectively.

• Competent and safe use of arboriculture and horticultural tools and equipment, including chainsaws, handsaws, pruning equipment, spraying equipment, and irrigation tools.

• Ability to access and work on trees at height using rope access, harnesses, or elevated work platforms.

• Knowledge of tree health, common pests and diseases, and appropriate treatment methods.

• Understanding of safe chemical handling and the application of sprays and fertilisers.

• Knowledge of watering, irrigation, soil management, weed control, and plantation maintenance practices.





• Strong risk awareness and the ability to identify hazards associated with tree work, equipment use, chemicals, and outdoor plantation environments.

• Good communication skills and the ability to supervise, train, and coordinate casual staff.

Experience

• Demonstrated experience in tree care, pruning, tree maintenance, plantation tree management, or arboriculture.

• Experience working safely with chainsaws and tree-care equipment.

• Experience in plantation, nursery, horticulture, or outdoor tree-based work (desirable).

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Arboriculture, Horticulture, or a closely related field, such as an AQF Certificate III, Certificate IV, or equivalent; or relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications.

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience in tree care, pruning, tree maintenance, or arboriculture.

• Knowledge of secure chemical handling and willingness to maintain relevant training and certifications.

• Physical fitness and capacity to perform outdoor work, including pruning, planting, lifting, operating equipment, working at heights, and working in varying weather conditions.

• Current driver's licence is desirable.

• Chainsaw, chemical handling, first aid, working at heights, or related safety tickets are desirable.
