- Vehicle & Driver Facilitation: Greet Uber drivers, trucks and couriers as they arrive at drop-off hubs, direct traffic flow and unload bags/boxes of donated clothing from car boots.
- Receiving & Weight Checks: Assist in unloading items (bags/boxes capped at 20 kg each) and load them onto pallets or storage containers
- Quality Inspection & Triage: Perform initial checks on donated items based on Red
Dress Code & Attire Requirements:
- Active wear or comfy clothes you can move in (high-vis vest will be provided in office upon check-in).
- Footwear: Mandatory closed-toe shoes (running shoes, sneakers, or work boots). Strictly no thongs,
sandals, or heels due to lifting and heavy vehicles moving through drop-off zones.
Weather & Personal Gear:
- Outdoor/Sun Prep: Cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen (you will be outdoors/under marquees for much of the day).
- Layers: A light jacket or windbreaker in case of changing weather conditions.
Critical Things to Be Aware Of:
1. Manual Handling & Ergonomics
- Bags and boxes can weigh up to 20 kg. Always use proper lifting techniques (lift with your legs, bend at the knees, keep heavy loads close to your body).
- Never lift a box or bag above shoulder height alone, ask a team member for a two-person lift for awkward or heavy items.
2. Vehicle Safety & Traffic Management
- Hubs will be busy with continuous vehicle drop-offs. Always stay aware of reversing vehicles and stick to designated pedestrian walkways and safety zones. High-visibility vests must be worn at all times near vehicle zones (provided onsite).
4. Hydration & Breaks
- Event days are high-energy. Take scheduled breaks, stay hydrated, and notify your Uber Team/ Red Cross Lead if you feel fatigued or unwell. They will introduce themselves to you on arrival.
