Meta Accounting is a team of accountants and bookkeepers dedicated to providing personalised support to small and medium sized businesses. We are looking for an experienced tax accountant to join our team in Midland, Western Australia. The role is full time, 9.00-5.00pm Monday to Friday.

About the role

You'll be working alongside accountants and bookkeepers to support clients with their taxation and compliance obligations. This is a role for a proactive and motivated accountant who enjoys working directly with clients across a range of industries.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing and lodging tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts

- Preparing financial statements

- Tax return appointments with clients

- Bookkeeping and review of client accounting records

- Managing tax compliance obligations including PAYG withholding, GST and superannuation contributions

- Assisting with tax planning and providing general taxation advice

- Maintaining detailed work papers and documentation





- Researching tax legislation and general tax compliance

- Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) when required

- Occasional ad hoc administration duties such as answering the phones

What we are looking for

- Accounting degree or relevant tertiary qualification is required

- Qualified accounting qualification (IPA, CPA, CA) would be preferred

- At least 3 years' experience working in an Australian accounting firm is required

- Experience with accounting software - Xero, Xero Practice Manager (XPM), Xero Tax and MYOB is required

- Comfortable working autonomously as well as part of a team

- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation, ATO requirements and tax compliance procedures

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
