About the role
New Farm Deli & Cafe is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Waiters & Counter Staff to join our dynamic team on a both casual and full-time basis. Based in New Farm, this role is central to delivering exceptional dining experiences to our valued customers. As a member of our front-of-house team, you will be the face of our establishment, ensuring every guest leaves with a memorable experience. This position offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant hospitality environment where your interpersonal skills and dedication to service excellence truly make a difference.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting customers warmly and professionally as they arrive, creating a welcoming atmosphere

- Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring customer preferences are clearly communicated to the kitchen

- Serving meals and drinks with attention to detail, presentation and timing

- Operating the point-of-sale system to process payments and manage transactions securely

- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of dining areas, tables and service stations throughout service periods

- Responding promptly to customer queries and requests, resolving any concerns with professionalism and courtesy

- Clearing and resetting tables between seatings to maintain service flow

- Assisting with counter service, including preparing and serving hot and cold beverages

- Responsible Service of Alcoholic beverages (a basic knowledge of wine would be beneficial)

- Supporting stock management and notifying management of inventory requirements

- Following health and safety protocols and food handling procedures at all times

What we're looking for

- Previous experience in hospitality,



waiting staff or customer service roles is highly valued

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for customer service

- Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced environment whilst maintaining composure under pressure

- Attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

- Flexibility with working hours, including availability for weekends and peak trading periods

- Knowledge of food and beverage offerings, with ability to make informed recommendations

- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic numeracy skills

- Professional appearance and adherence to dress code standards

- Current Working with Children Check (if applicable to your state requirements) or willingness to obtain one

- RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification is preferred

- Food Safety Certificate or willingness to complete training
