They are extending a core platform into a consumer-facing web application used by thousands of Victorian households and businesses — and are now seeking a Technical Lead / Principal Engineer to own the technical direction of the product.

This is not just a lead developer role.

This is architectural ownership, engineering leadership, and delivery accountability combined.

What You’ll Be Responsible Forn

Architecture & Technical Leadership

n

Own the end-to-end solution architecture (backend, integrations, infrastructure)

n

Drive security-by-design, scalability, and maintainability

n

Engage directly with client technical and business stakeholders

n

Shape architectural direction across microservices and cloud-native patterns

n

Technical Governance & Documentation

n

Author Technical Specifications and Solution Designs

n

Maintain Design Decision Records

n

Ensure traceable, structured technical documentation

n

Mentor developers and automation test engineers

n

Lead code reviews and engineering standards uplift

n





Raise technical maturity across the team

n

Delivery & Risk Management

n

Lead technical refinement, elaboration and estimation

n

Identify technical risks and dependencies early

n

Work closely with project and product stakeholders

n

Security & Compliance

n

Ensure adherence to government security standards

n

Align to SOC2 / ISO27001 practices

n

Guide observability, monitoring and operational readiness

n

Proven experience as a Technical Lead / Principal Engineer

n

Experience with microservices and API design

n

AWS (Lambda, API Gateway), cloud-native architecture

n

CI/CD, DevSecOps, Infrastructure-as-Code

n

Strong technical documentation capability

n

Experience mentoring engineers

Nice to Haven

WCAG / accessibility knowledge

n

Observability tooling experience
