nAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Finance Director to join a government department on a 2-month contract. This role offers a highly flexible hybrid working arrangement (3-4 days WFH) and the chance to step into a senior leadership position within a complex environment.n
The Role n
nReporting into the Finance Director, this position will support the leadership of the finance function, ensuring strong financial governance, reporting, and operational performance. You will play a key role in overseeing team outputs, providing strategic insight, and maintaining high standards across financial management.n
Key Responsibilities n

- Support the Finance Director in leading the finance function
n
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
n
- Ensure compliance with government frameworks, policies, and controls
n
- Provide strategic financial advice to senior stakeholders
n
- Lead, mentor, and support finance team members

- Drive improvements across financial processes and reporting
n
- Assist with managing audit requirements and stakeholder expectations
n

About the Candidate n

- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role within a complex organisation
n
- Strong technical accounting and financial management expertise
n
- Experience operating within government or similarly regulated environments highly regarded
n
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
n
- Ability to quickly add value in a short-term contract setting

- Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach
