ABOUT THE ROLE n

Position

n

We are seeking a dedicated and appropriately experienced professional to join our Business and Aviation team.

n

Reporting to Council’s Manager Business and Aviation, this position plays a key leadership role in supporting robust, transparent and effective corporate governance across Council. A key responsibility is to oversee and continually improve Council’s governance framework, ensuring legislative and statutory obligations are understood, monitored and met.

n

Working across a diverse range of corporate governance matters, the position provides trusted specialist advice and support in areas including governance, risk management, insurance, contracts, property, commercial transactions and legal services.

n

The role also provides effective leadership, supervision and mentoring to the Governance team, fostering a positive and capable team environment and ensuring the delivery of high-quality governance services across the organisation.

- Tertiary qualifications at a degree level in governance, business administration, risk management, law or equivalent.
n
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills, including high level ability to negotiate and consult on complex matters and explain legislation and policy requirements through effective written and verbal communication.
n
- Demonstrated thorough understanding of and experience in interpreting legislation, standards and practices relating to governance, risk, contracts.
n
- Demonstrated high-level communication skills,



both oral and written, including conflict resolution and experience in the preparation and presentation of complex reports/ contracts and submissions.
n
- Proven experience in supervising staff, monitoring of workloads and planning of work.
n
- Demonstrated organisational skills, with the ability to exercise judgement and clarity in prioritising issues, clearly demonstrating a proven ability to produce high quality work delivered to meet deadlines.
n
- Demonstrated ability in dealing with highly confidential and/or sensitive information.
n
- Demonstrated advanced report writing skills including the ability to develop policies and procedures.
n
- Proven experience in managing and coordinating investigations into alleged misconduct, and ensuring procedural fairness is complied with.

- An annual salary range of $116,500 to $133,700 (plus 12% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
