Job Description
Tired of doing the same automation projects over and over?
n
Come and work on the ones that haven't been solved yet.
n
At Intelligent Robotics (IR), we're developing advanced robotic and automation systems for some of the most challenging applications in industry.
n
We're looking for an experienced Senior Automation & Robotics Engineer who loves solving difficult engineering problems and wants to work at the intersection of robotics, automation, machine vision, motion control and AI.
n
This isn't a role where you'll spend your time making minor modifications to the same PLC program or commissioning another standard production line.
n
You'll be designing and delivering systems where r obots need to see, understand, decide and interact with complex real-world environments.
What will you work on? n
Our projects combine technologies including:
n
n
- Industrial robots and collaborative robots
n
- PLC and advanced automation systems
n
- 2D and 3D machine vision
n
- Servo and motion control
n
- AI and machine learning
n
- Advanced sensors and instrumentation
n
- Industrial networks and communications
n
- Machine safety
n
- Robotic end effectors and manipulation
n
- Simulation and digital twins
n
- Humanoid robotics and Physical AI
n
n
You'll work across the complete engineering lifecycle:
n
One day you might be developing the architecture for a new robotic production system.
n
The next you could be integrating a 3D vision system, optimising robot motion, solving a PLC sequencing problem, commissioning equipment at a customer site or helping turn an R&D; concept into a commercial product.
The role n
As a Senior Automation & Robotics Engineer, you'll take significant technical responsibility for the systems you work on.
n
You’ll:
n
n
- Design and develop complete robotic automation systems.
n
- Develop PLC, robot, motion and control system architectures.
n
- Program and integrate industrial robots and cooperative robots.
n
- Develop and commission PLC and HMI applications.
n
- Integrate machine vision, sensors and advanced sensing technologies.
n
- Develop servo and motion-control applications.
n
- Integrate robots, PLCs, vision, safety and mechanical systems.
n
- Participate in concept development and system architecture.
n
- Lead technical aspects of projects and mentor less experienced engineers.
n
- Troubleshoot complex multidisciplinary engineering problems.
n
- Participate in FAT, installation and site commissioning.
n
- Work directly with customers to understand and solve production challenges.
n
- Contribute to IR's R&D; and new technology development programs.
n
- Help turn successful prototypes into robust, repeatable industrial products.
n
n
Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to actually engineer.
Who are we looking for? n
We're looking for an experienced automation or robotics engineer who enjoys being challenged.
n
You don't need to be an expert in every technology we use.
n
But you should have strong experience in industrial automation and enough breadth to understand how the complete system fits together.
n
Ideally, you'll bring experience across several of the following:
n
n
- PLC programming
n
- Servo and motion control
n
- Machine vision
n
- Safety PLCs and machine safety
n
- Industrial communications
n
- Sensors and instrumentation
n
- System integration
n
n
Experience with technologies from B&R;, Omron,
Stäubli, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots, Cognex, Photoneo, SICK, or similar platforms would be valuable.
n
But we're much more interested in how you think and solve problems than whether you've used a particular brand of PLC or robot.
What makes someone successful at IR? n
You enjoy getting to the bottom of difficult problems.
n
You're comfortable starting with a blank sheet of paper rather than waiting for someone else to give you the solution.
n
You can look beyond your own engineering discipline and understand the whole machine.
n
You can move between software, robots, PLCs, sensors, mechanical systems and production processes.
n
You take pride in building equipment that doesn't just work during FAT- it works reliably when the customer needs to run production every day.
n
And when something doesn't work?
n
You're the type of engineer who wants to know why .
n
Because we're automating the things that are difficult to automate.
n
Our engineers work on projects involving advanced robotics, machine vision, AI, intelligent automation, humanoids and Physical AI.
n
We're applying these technologies to real industrial problems across advanced manufacturing, food processing, biomedical/life sciences and other industries.
n
You'll work alongside engineers who enjoy technology, experimentation and solving hard problems.
n
You'll also have the opportunity to influence how systems are designed- not simply implement someone else's specification.
n
As IR grows, there will be opportunities for strong engineers to develop into technical leadership, engineering management and specialist technology roles.
n
If you like difficult engineering problems, we'd like to hear from you.
n
Only Australian residents, or temporary residents with full work rights need apply.
