An established and growing construction and trade services business is looking for an experienced Estimating Manager to strengthen its construction and fitout capability.
n
This is a newly created role driven by growth. You'll join two talented developing estimators and become the senior technical presence within the team - remaining hands-on with estimating while providing guidance, structure and mentoring.
The opportunity n
This isn't a role where you'll step away from estimating to purely manage people. You'll be actively involved in tenders while helping improve the overall quality and sophistication of the estimating function.
n
You'll take responsibility for:
n
n
- Leading and preparing construction and fitout estimates and tenders from initial review through to submission
n
- Producing accurate cost plans, take-offs, labour and material build-ups and subcontractor pricing
n
- Improving the quality of tender submissions, including methodologies, programmes, qualifications and supporting documentation
n
- Reviewing commercial risks, scope gaps, assumptions and margin before submission
n
- Providing practical guidance and mentoring to two developing estimators
n
- Developing and improving estimating software, systems, templates and cost information
n
- Working closely with operations to ensure successful tenders transition effectively into project delivery
n
- Building strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and key internal stakeholders
n
About you n
You'll be an experienced estimator who has remained close to the construction and fitout market recently and still enjoys being hands-on.
n
n
- Robust recent estimating experience across commercial construction, fitout or refurbishment projects
n
- Confidence managing tenders from initial documentation through to final submission
n
- Strong understanding of construction costs, subcontractor packages, programmes and commercial risk
n
- Experience producing high-quality tender methodologies and documentation
n
- The ability to review and improve estimating processes and systems
n
- The capability to mentor less experienced estimators without needing to formally "manage" them
n
- A calm, considered and cooperative approach
n
Why consider this opportunity? n
You’ll be joining a business with ambitious growth plans at a point where you can have a genuine impact on how the estimating function develops.
n
Rather than inheriting a rigid corporate structure, you’ll have the opportunity to bring your experience, improve systems and standards, develop two promising estimators and help shape a function that will support the next stage of the organisation's growth.
