Secondary Tutors | Maths, English, Biology & Chemistry n

As a DA tutor, you will teach small groups of students across Years 7-12 at our Canley Heights centre. You will help students strengthen their knowledge, develop confidence and make meaningful academic progress. Teaching at DA is about more than delivering content. You will notice where a student is struggling, explain ideas in different ways, ask questions that make students think and create an environment where students feel comfortable enough to ask for help. Depending on your experience, academic background and subject expertise, you may work with junior students, senior students and/or HSC classes.

Key responsibilities

n

Teaching small-group classes to secondary students in your strongest subject area

n

Explaining challenging concepts clearly and breaking them into manageable steps

n

Using purposeful questions to check and deepen student understanding

n

Adapting your teaching approach for students with different abilities and learning needs

n

Helping students develop confidence, stronger study habits and greater independence

n

Providing encouragement, clear feedback and consistent academic support

n

Preparing for lessons using teaching resources supplied by DA

n

Working collaboratively with other tutors and the wider DA team

n

Participating in training, feedback and ongoing professional development

n

About you

n





Must have completed the NSW HSC and be able to provide their HSC results transcript as part of the application process

n

Strong academic knowledge in Mathematics, English, Biology and/or Chemistry

n

Clear communicators who can make difficult ideas feel manageable

n

Patient and approachable so students feel safe asking questions and making mistakes

n

Adaptable and willing to find another explanation when the first one does not work

n

Engaging and able to encourage students to think rather than simply giving answers

n

Genuinely invested in students and interested in their confidence as well as their results

n

Open to feedback and willing to reflect, learn and continually improve

n

Reliable and professional because students, families and colleagues depend on consistency

n

A valid NSW Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one before commencing work

n
