Specialist – Development Charge-up (FIFO to PNG)

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. NPL is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation, Zijin Mining, and the Papua New Guinea Government, combining global mining expertise with a shared commitment to responsible resource development and long-term value creation for Papua New Guinea.

The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production and, over its 30-year operating history, has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea's total annual exports, making it one of the country's most significant economic assets.

About the role

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Specialist – Development Charge-up to join Porgera’s underground mining team. In this role you carry out development and production charging, safely operating Orica equipment and products, and ensuring compliant handling, transport, and storage of explosives. The role provides leadership and training to the underground team, supports safe work practices, assists broader underground operations, and contributes to achieving production targets while upskilling the national workforce.

You will model safety behaviours and coach and develop your team, working with your team to assess and manage risk. NPL operates in a complex environment that requires the successful applicant to be a self-starter, with strong ability in delivery to support the mines successful operation whilst coordinating the efforts of your team members to complete projects according to plan in a timely and protected manner.

About you

The ideal candidate will bring strong development and production charging experience, hold a current Shot Firer’s Licence,



and demonstrate hands‑on expertise with Orica equipment and products. They will ensure the safe and efficient handling, transport, and storage of explosives and blasting agents, while providing clear leadership, direction, and training to the underground mining department to achieve production targets safely and efficiently. The role also supports the development and implementation of safe work practices to maintain high operational standards, with a proactive approach to supporting broader underground operations and delivering training and upskilling to the national workforce.

You will demonstrate a ‘One Team’ approach, providing effective leadership and development for your local team to reinforce NPL’s culture and values, always promoting a safe work environment. The position requires a high energy individual, hands‑on management style and desire to continuously improve you and your team’s knowledge and systems and methods of work.

This role is offered on a FIFO basis either from Papua New Guinea, Australia/New Zealand with a 28/28 roster on a contract basis with a highly competitive remuneration package.
