Horse Trainer / Breeding - Assistant Foaling Manager n

Arrowfield Stud and Training Centre are currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join our team for the role of role Horse Trainer/Breeding - Assistant Foaling Manager.

Position is full-time and available in Scone NSW.

n

Duties will include:

n

n
- Training broodmares and young stock
n
- Monitoring and handling of mares imminently in foal
n
- Foaling, including pre- and post-natal care of broodmares and foals
n
- Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy
n
- Early education of foals and young stock
n
- Educating and preparing weanlings and yearlings for sale
n
- Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses and staff supervision where required
n
- Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
n

Essential Criteria

n

n
- A Certificate III or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years’ professional full-time experience educating and training horses
n




- A minimum of two years’ equivalent full time experience handling and working with and educating thoroughbred horses
n
- Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbreds, including stallions, sales or breeding
n
- Proven ability to train and educate young horses
n
- Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction; provide information and advice to others and prepare basic reports
n
- Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
n
- Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
n

This is a full-time position, and the suitable applicant will need to commit to a minimum of two-years employment.

n

For overseas applicants, please note, a valid visa will be required to commence work.

n

The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000 to $82,000 per annum depending upon the level of responsibility.
