Job Description

The Brisbane Fitter is a hands-on, multi-skilled role responsible for preparing truck chassis, fitting Shermac bodies and equipment, and completing commissioning and testing. As the Brisbane branch grows, this role is expected to develop into a Workshop Team Leader position, making it well suited to an experienced all-rounder who can work independently, solve problems and take ownership of getting equipment completed to a high standard.

Key responsibilities n

- Fit chassis mounts, ROPS and associated components
n
- Install and route wiring harnesses into truck cabs and chassis
n
- Install PTOs, hydraulic pumps and associated equipment
n
- Complete mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic installations
n
- Coordinate cranage and installation of water cart and service truck bodies
n
- Position, align and bolt bodies to truck chassis
n
- Complete hydraulic, electrical and air connections
n
- Run up and function-test completed equipment
n
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
n
- Work independently and take ownership of jobs through to completion

About you nn
- Strong mechanical fitting experience.
n
- Automotive electrical installation and fault-finding experience.
n
- Good practical knowledge of hydraulic systems.
n




- Experience with trucks, heavy vehicles or mobile plant.
n
- Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
n
- Ability to read engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics and electrical diagrams.
n
- Ability to work independently with a high standard of workmanship.
n
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel and site-based work.
n

Highly regarded nn
- Heavy vehicle body fitment experience.
n
- PTO and hydraulic pump installation.
n
- Water cart or service truck experience.
n
- Welding and fabrication capability.
n
- Previous leading hand or team leadership experience.
