About the Opportunityn
n We are partnering with a large Queensland Government organisation to appoint an experienced Principal Financial Accountant to its Brisbane CBD finance team.n
n
n This is a hands-on senior accounting position with a broad remit across financial accounting operations. You’ll lead key activities spanning month-end, financial ledgers, annual financial statements and asset accounting, while providing technical advice and supporting strong financial governance across the organisation.n
n
n The position will suit someone who is comfortable taking ownership of complex accounting matters, working across multiple priorities and building strong relationships with senior stakeholders.n
n
What you’ll be responsible for:n
n

n
- Lead financial ledger operations and coordinate key month-end accounting activities
n
- Provide timely, high-level financial accounting advice to internal and external stakeholders
n
- Play a key role in the preparation of annual financial statements and coordinate associated activities with auditors
n
- Oversee asset accounting activities, including asset registers, stocktakes, valuations, impairment and useful life reviews
n
- Analyse financial information and performance to support decision-making and key financial initiatives
n
- Prepare formal and ad hoc financial and management reporting for senior stakeholders
n
- Develop and strengthen financial policies, procedures and internal control frameworks
n
- Support compliance with statutory requirements, government policy and contemporary financial management practices
n
- Lead financial management projects and ensure agreed outcomes are delivered within required timeframes
n




- Provide leadership and guidance across financial accounting activities while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
n

What you’ll bringn
n You’ll be an experienced financial accounting professional with the technical capability and confidence to operate at a senior level within a complex setting.n
n
n Ideally, you’ll bring:n
n

n
- Extensive experience across financial accounting and financial management
n
- Strong capability across month-end, financial reporting and complex accounting matters
n
- Sound knowledge of financial governance, compliance and internal controls
n
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
n
- The ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly to a range of stakeholders
n
- Proven experience providing leadership and direction within a finance environment
n
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline, with CPA, CA or equivalent qualifications highly regarded
n

- Full-time fixed-term contract through to March 2027
