Senior Liability Underwriter

nOur client is a well-established underwriting agency with a strong presence in the Australian market and a focus on complex commercial risks.n
nThis is a great opportunity for an experienced Liability Underwriter to join a high-quality underwriting team, with the opportunity to take ownership of a portfolio and work closely with senior underwriting leadership.n
The Role n
nWe're seeking an experienced Liability Underwriter to manage and develop an established portfolio of commercial risks. This role will suit someone with strong technical underwriting capability across broad-form Liability, who is comfortable assessing complex risks and excess liability. You will be working closely with the national head of liability.n
nThe role has a robust technical focus, with exposure to large insurance programs and complex risks across sectors including Construction and Mining.n

Key responsibilities will include: n

- Managing and underwriting an established Liability portfolio
n
- Assessing complex risks across broad-form Liability
n
- Underwriting large and complex insurance programs
n
- Developing strong broker and market relationships
n
- Applying sound technical underwriting judgement within delegated authority
n
- Reviewing risk information, exposures and policy structures
n
- Working closely with senior underwriting leadership on portfolio performance
n




- Supporting the continued growth and development of the Liability portfolio
n
- Maintaining strong underwriting discipline while identifying quality new business opportunities
n

About You n
n

n
- Strong Australian Liability product underwriting experience is essential - 3+ years of experience would be highly regarded
n
- Excess Liability experience would be advantageous
n
- Experience underwriting large or complex insurance programs
n
- Construction and/or Mining underwriting experience highly desirable
n
- Strong technical understanding of Liability products and risk exposures
n
- Confident dealing with brokers and other market stakeholders
n
- Sound commercial judgement and ability to manage an underwriting portfolio
n
- Market-facing experience is beneficial, although this is not a heavily production-focused role
n
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior underwriting stakeholders
n
