About the Role

n

As a Residential Youth Worker, you will support children and young people within a residential care environment by providing day-to-day care, emotional support, structure, and guidance.

n

You will work within therapeutic and trauma-informed frameworks to help young people develop independence, emotional regulation, life skills, and positive relationships.

n

This role involves a rotating roster, including:

n

n
- Day shifts
n
- Afternoon shifts
n




- Sleepover shifts
n
- Night shifts
n
- Weekend work
n
- Split shifts
n

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Provide daily care, supervision, and emotional support to young people
n
- Support routines, education, appointments, recreational activities, and community participation
n
- Build positive and skilled relationships with young people
n
- Implement care plans, behaviour support strategies, and therapeutic frameworks
n
- Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviours and crisis situations
n
- Support young people to develop life skills, independence, and emotional regulation
n
- Maintain accurate documentation, shift reports, and case notes
n
- Contribute positively to team culture, communication, and planning
n
- Promote culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive environments
n
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice
n
- Participate in outreach support where required
n

Experience in residential care or community services is highly regarded,



however we also value transferable life experience, emotional intelligence, and a genuine desire to support vulnerable young people.

Mandatory Requirements

n

n
- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or related field (completed or currently enrolled)
n
- Current Queensland Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
n
- Current Driver’s Licence
n
- National Police Check (within the last 3 months)
n
- Ability to complete rotating rosters including sleepovers
n
