2027 Secondary Teaching Opportunities... Ready to find a School That's Right for You?

A new school year brings new possibilities. Where could 2027 take your teaching career?

The right teaching position is about more than the subjects you teach. It's about finding a school where you feel supported, enjoy the community, have opportunities to grow and can make a meaningful difference.

With 2027 recruitment now open , HARKE Recruitment is connecting secondary teachers with Catholic, Independent and Government schools across Melbourne's east, south-east, north and north-east.

One CV. Access to multiple schools. A dedicated recruitment consultant supporting your next move.

Whether you're looking for a permanent position, a fresh teaching environment, greater career opportunities or a shorter commute, HARKE helps you explore what's available without the pressure of managing multiple applications on your own.

What Makes Applying Through HARKE Different?

A teaching job search shouldn't feel like another full time job.

You know the traditional process: find a vacancy, research the school, prepare your application, submit it and hope to hear back.

Then do it all again for the next opportunity.

HARKE offers a more personalised approach.

Rather than approaching schools individually, teachers can work with one dedicated consultant who understands their experience, preferences and what they're hoping to achieve.

Here's what you can expect:

1. A conversation about what matters to you

We'll discuss your teaching experience, preferred subjects, locations, school environments and career ambitions. We want to understand what you're looking for, not just what's listed on your CV.

2. Access to relevant school opportunities

HARKE works directly with schools and can introduce positions that align with your preferences. You decide which opportunities you'd like to explore, and we won't submit your CV without your consent.

3. More information before you decide

Understand the teaching expectations, school environment, employment conditions and salary arrangements before committing to an interview.

4. Support at every stage

From presenting your experience to preparing for interviews and discussing offers, your consultant is available to guide you through the process and keep communication clear.

5. Ongoing opportunities

Not every position will be the right fit. If circumstances change or another suitable vacancy becomes available, HARKE can continue supporting your search.

There are no recruitment fees for teachers. HARKE's services are paid for by our partner schools.

A Recruitment Agency Teachers Recommend

Your next career move deserves the support of people who understand schools and teachers.

HARKE is an Australian education recruitment agency specialising in connecting qualified teachers with permanent and fixed-term employment opportunities.

With over 400 SEEK reviews , HARKE has earned the trust of teachers through consistent communication, practical advice and genuine support.

Teachers regularly recognise HARKE's consultants for their responsiveness, clear updates, interview preparation and commitment to finding suitable positions.

We understand that changing schools is an important decision. That's why we focus on helping teachers make informed choices rather than simply filling vacancies.

Salary & Recognition of Experience

Your experience counts.

Victorian government classroom teacher salaries currently range from $79,589–$118,063 + super , with proposed increases for 2027 subject to formal approval of the new agreement.

As salary arrangements are evolving, teachers can review current and proposed rates through the:

Victorian Teacher Salary Guide: guides/vic-teacher-salary

Catholic and Independent schools have their own applicable agreements and salary structures.

HARKE assists teachers in understanding salary expectations and ensuring their recognised full-time equivalent (FTE) teaching experience is appropriately considered. A Statement of Service may be requested to confirm previous experience and support salary classification.

Who Should Apply?

HARKE welcomes applications from graduate and experienced secondary teachers seeking opportunities for Term 1, 2027.

Applicants will need:

- Registration with, or eligibility for registration with, the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).

- Full Australian working rights.

- Relevant teaching qualifications and curriculum knowledge.

- A commitment to child safety, student wellbeing and positive learning outcomes.

- Two professional referees and willingness to complete HARKE's safeguarding and onboarding requirements.

Make 2027 Your Next Career Move

You don't have to be unhappy in your current school to explore what else is out there.

Perhaps you're ready for a new challenge, hoping to teach more of your preferred subjects, interested in a different school community or simply curious about opportunities closer to home.

Whatever your reason, HARKE can help you understand your options.
