Senior Accountant - Stockbroking / Financial Services n

You'll report to the Financial Controller / CFO and look after core accounting, payroll and reconciliation work.

Key responsibilities

n

- Preparing and reviewing general ledger reconciliations each month, and investigating and resolving variances
n
- Preparing and processing accounting journals, including month-end and year-end adjustments, accruals and prepayments
n
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
n
- Running end-to-end payroll, including superannuation, PAYG withholding and STP reporting
n
- Calculating and maintaining annual leave and long service leave provisions in line with relevant legislation and accounting standards
n
- Supporting the preparation of management and statutory financial statements
n
- Preparing audit files and responding to auditor queries, and supporting regulatory reporting and compliance requirements
n
- Helping migrate our accounting system to Xero, including data mapping, testing, reconciling balances and setting up new processes
n
- Finding ways to improve processes and controls within the finance function

About you

n

n




- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Commerce from an Australian university (or an equivalent recognised qualification)
n
- CA or CPA qualified (or close to completing)
n
- At least 5 years' accounting experience, including 2-3 years in audit (ideally with a chartered accounting firm)
n
- Strong hands‑on experience with Xero
n
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and Power Query
n
- Solid payroll experience, including leave entitlements and LSL calculations
n
- A strong eye for detail and the ability to manage month-end deadlines
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a team-oriented approach
n
- Experience with accounting system implementations or migrations is highly regarded
n
- Experience in stockbroking, wealth management or financial services is highly regarded but not essential
n
