OpenLot.com.au is growing and we are looking for a Senior Content Writer with strong real estate, property portal, classifieds or marketplace experience.

OpenLot is a consumer-led property platform helping Australians research housing estates, house and land packages, home designs, developers and builders. We support property developers and marketers with a digital marketing solution and reach a large audience of active home buyers across Australia.

This is not a junior writing role. We are looking for someone who can research, write, structure and optimise high-quality property content that helps buyers make better decisions and strengthens OpenLot’s organic search performance.

The role n

You will lead the creation of in-depth written content across the OpenLot platform, including research-led articles, suburb profiles, project reviews, development comparisons, market updates, quarterly reports, PR releases and written content adapted from video.

You will work closely with our marketing, SEO, product, video and sales teams to build content that is useful, accurate, commercially valuable and optimised for long-term search performance.

Key responsibilities n

- Write in-depth real estate content, including suburb profiles, development reviews, community guides, comparison articles, market reports, home building journey and buyer education content.
n
- Research property topics, locations, projects, developers, communities and market trends with strong attention to accuracy and context.
n
- Use Ahrefs and other SEO tools to complete keyword research, topic analysis, competitor analysis and content gap reviews.
n




- Plan and structure content around search intent, buyer behaviour and SEO opportunity.
n
- Categorise, update, merge and improve existing articles to strengthen SEO performance across the website.
n
- Turn video content, interviews and internal insights into polished written articles.
n
- Write PR releases, campaign content and platform updates when required.
n
- Create quarterly content reports and property market summaries.
n
- Use AI tools to support research and workflow, while ensuring every published piece has original thinking, strong editorial judgment and a distinct human voice.

- Work with internal teams to identify content opportunities that support traffic growth, buyer engagement and commercial outcomes.

What we are looking for nn
- Strong experience writing in the real estate industry, property portals, classifieds, marketplaces or similar sectors such as cars, travel or high-intent consumer search platforms.
n
- Excellent English writing skills, with the ability to write clearly, accurately and confidently for Australian audiences.
n
- Demonstrated ability to produce long-form, research-led and SEO-informed content.
n
- Strong understanding of keyword research, search intent, on-page SEO and content optimisation.
n
- Hands-on experience using Ahrefs or similar SEO tools.
n




- Ability to compare developments, buildings, communities, suburbs and projects in a way that is useful, balanced and commercially smart.
n
- Strong editing skills, including the ability to improve, merge and restructure existing content.
n
- Strong research discipline and the ability to verify facts before publishing.
n
- A practical understanding of how content supports organic growth, brand authority and lead generation.
n
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and deliver high-quality work without heavy supervision.
n
- Bachelor degree necessary.
n
- Previous experience in real estate portals preferred.

- This is a full time senior content role with OpenLot.com.au.
