A growing commercial construction business is looking for a well-connected Business Development Manager to work directly alongside the Director and drive the next stage of its growth.
n
This is not a traditional, office-bound BD role.
n
The business is already successfully delivering construction, major extensions, refurbishments and fit-outs, with projects currently ranging the $3M - $5M mark. It has established relationships across the private sector and education market, working with private schools & institutions and is supported by a strong estimating function and capable delivery team.
n
The foundations are there. They now want someone hungry enough to build on them.
The Opportunity n
Working with the Director, your focus will be easy: create opportunities and get the business in front of the right people.
n
You will:
n
n
- Develop current relationships across the construction, development, design and client-side markets
n
- Leverage your existing network and "black book" to generate genuine project opportunities
n
- Build relationships with developers, project managers, architects, consultants and property groups
n
- Identify upcoming construction projects before they formally hit the market
n
- Get the business onto tender panels and preferred contractor lists
n
- Create introductions and opportunities for the estimating team
n
- Strengthen existing relationships and turn them into repeat work
n
- Help grow the company's presence and reputation across NSW
n
- Work closely with the Director on the wider growth strategy
n
n
For clarity, you won't be expected to estimate the work yourself. There is already a strong estimating function in place to price and convert opportunities. They are currently winning most tenders they work on.
Why This Role Is Different n
The Director is flexible about how the position is structured.
n
If you want a strong base salary with performance incentives, they are open to it.
If you're highly confident in your network and would prefer a more aggressive commission structure with significant upside, that can be discussed too.
n
You also won't be expected to sit behind a desk five days a week.
n
The expectation is that you're out in the market: building relationships, opening doors and creating opportunities.
n
This business also has established interests across property and facilities services, creating additional relationships and potential opportunities for someone commercially minded enough to capitalise on them.
Who I'm Looking For: n
This role will suit someone who is hungry, organised, whilst ready to earn and grow with a good business & a small team.
n
You could currently be working within:
n
n
- Construction business development
n
- Commercial construction
n
- Property development
n
- Client-side project management
n
- Construction consultancy
n
n
Your exact job title is less important than your network and ability to generate opportunities.
n
Ideally, you'll already know decision-makers across the NSW property and construction market and understand how to take a relationship from an initial conversation through to a genuine tender opportunity.
What's On Offer n
n
- Genuine influence over the growth of the company
n
- Highly flexible working environment
n
- No expectation to be permanently office-based
n
- Negotiable remuneration structure
n
- Solid base and/or substantial commission potential
n
- Existing estimating and delivery capability behind you
n
- Opportunity to build a BD function around your strengths
n
- Access to relationships and opportunities across a wider property-focused group
n
- Significant upside for someone who can consistently bring quality opportunities to the table
n
n
This isn't a role for someone who wants to maintain an existing pipeline. It's for someone who wants to build one, grow a brand and be financially rewarded for the value they create.
