What You’ll Be Doing

The Head of Engineering – Commercial provides strategic and people leadership across our Commercial engineering teams at iSelect and Compare the Market. Working through Engineering Managers and in close partnership with Product and Delivery, you’ll set engineering direction, align priorities and build the capability needed to deliver great customer and business outcomes.

You’ll create an environment where teams can do their best work, balancing delivery, technical excellence, reliability and sustainable ways of working.

- Shape engineering direction across the Commercial portfolio, connecting technology priorities with customer and business goals.
- Drive successful delivery of key initiatives, migrations and releases, removing roadblocks and keeping teams moving.
- Champion engineering excellence across quality, security, reliability and technical practices.
- Coach and empower Engineering Managers, building strong leadership capability and high-performing teams.
- Build and grow diverse engineering talent, creating an inclusive culture where people can thrive.
- Partner across the business to solve problems, align priorities and deliver shared outcomes.
- Balance innovation and delivery with reliability, security and sustainable engineering practices.
- Lead positive change, using insights and team feedback to continuously improve how we work.

What Sets You Apart

- Experienced engineering leader with a solid background in customer-facing digital products and teams.
- Strong technical judgement across applications, APIs, integrations and cloud technologies.
- Proven ability to balance delivery, quality, reliability, technical debt and commercial outcomes.
- Confident working across Product, Commercial and Enterprise teams to align priorities and navigate complexity.
- Experience leading technical and organisational change in complex environments.
- Inclusive, people-focused leader who enjoys coaching others and building strong, high-performing teams.
- Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
