Salary $100,000 - $110,000 + Super + more

About the Role

This firm is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join its Adelaide team. This is an opportunity for a commercially minded designer who can take ownership of projects from initial client brief through to construction and handover.

You will translate client requirements into considered, functional and visually compelling interior environments, leading the design process while ensuring every outcome is commercially viable, technically coordinated and ready to build.

Working closely with project managers, estimators, builders, consultants and suppliers, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between design and delivery. You will be responsible for maintaining design quality, managing documentation standards and resolving challenges throughout construction to ensure projects are delivered in line with the agreed scope, budget and programme.

Alongside your project responsibilities, you will contribute to the development of the wider design team, mentor junior designers and help establish consistent standards across design, documentation and project delivery.

This role will suit a confident designer who combines creative thinking with strong technical capability, commercial awareness and a genuine understanding of how interiors are brought to life.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership & Project Delivery

- Lead commercial interior design projects from initial brief and concept development through to documentation, construction and final handover.
- Interpret client requirements, workplace needs and project objectives to develop innovative, functional and commercially appropriate design solutions.
- Establish clear design direction across space planning, materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E;), and detailed specifications.

- Present design concepts and recommendations to clients, clearly communicating the rationale behind design decisions.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables align with agreed scope, budgets, milestones and programme requirements.
- Maintain design intent throughout procurement and construction, resolving issues promptly and minimising the need for costly redesign.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a seamless transition between design development, documentation and project delivery.

Technical Design & Documentation

- Produce high-quality, coordinated design documentation, drawings, specifications and schedules that can be accurately priced and constructed.
- Demonstrate solid proficiency in Revit, using the platform to develop, coordinate and manage detailed design documentation and models.
- Prepare detailed space plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, joinery details, finish schedules and FF&E; documentation as required.
- Coordinate design information with architectural, structural, building services and other relevant consultant documentation.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts, technical constraints and buildability issues before they impact construction.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent and aligned with relevant Australian Standards, National Construction Code requirements and applicable accessibility and building regulations.
- Establish and maintain documentation standards that improve coordination, efficiency and consistency across projects.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Demonstrated experience as a Senior Interior Designer or an experienced Interior Designer ready to step into a senior position.
- A strong portfolio of completed commercial interior projects, ideally across workplace, office, retail, hospitality or other commercial environments.
- Proven experience managing projects from concept design through to detailed documentation, construction and handover.
- Advanced working proficiency in Revit,

including the ability to develop and coordinate detailed design models and construction documentation.
- Strong technical documentation skills, with an understanding of how design information is interpreted by builders, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Excellent space planning, concept development, materials selection, FF&E; and detailing capabilities.
- A sound understanding of Australian commercial construction practices, relevant codes, accessibility requirements and consultant coordination.
- Experience working collaboratively with project managers, estimators, builders and other construction professionals.
- Strong commercial acumen, including the ability to design within budgets, assess alternatives and support value engineering.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to lead client discussions and articulate design decisions.
- Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and project deadlines.
- Leadership capability and a genuine interest in mentoring designers and improving team performance.

Experience within a design-and-construct environment will be highly regarded.

What's on Offer

- The opportunity to join an established commercial interiors business with an integrated design-and-construct model.
- End-to-end involvement in projects, from initial concept through to completed spaces.
- Direct collaboration with construction teams, estimators, project managers and suppliers.
- The opportunity to influence design outcomes while maintaining a strong connection to cost, programme and buildability.
- A senior role with scope to mentor team members and contribute to design standards and processes.
- Exposure to a diverse range of commercial interior projects.
- The opportunity to make a tangible impact on the quality of spaces delivered for clients across Adelaide.

How to Apply

If you are a technically strong, commercially minded interior designer who enjoys taking projects from concept through to completion, we would love to hear from you.
