About the Organisation
Talent Map is exclusively working with a privately-owned civil engineering and construction business. Founded in Australia and now backed by a large multinational, the organisation has experienced significant expansion over the last few years and is well positioned to continue it's phenomenal growth journey. The organisation is currently seeking an up-and-coming and enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in a newly created position.

The Position
Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager, you will take ownership of a varied assistant accountant position that spans payroll processing, month-end reporting, compliance, and debtor management. This is a genuinely broad role offering exposure across the full finance function.Your responsibilities will include:

- Processing weekly payroll timesheets and managing payroll compliance
- Producing monthly financial accounts, assisting with budgets, and maintaining the general ledger
- Processing sales invoices, managing receipts, and maintaining debtor reporting to support credit control
- Managing company bank accounts, payment approvals, reconciliations, and cashflow
- Completing BAS returns including fuel tax credit calculations
- Managing bank guarantee requests and pursuing return of securities on completed projects
- Preparing environmental reporting and Australian Business Survey reports
- Liaising with external auditors and supporting the annual audit process

The Candidate




You have an accounting degree and are either CPA/CA qualified or working toward completion. With approximately two years of experience in a similar assistant accountant or accountant role, you are comfortable managing multiple deliverables and working autonomously within a close-knit team. You have strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced), high attention to detail, and the ability to analyse financial data and prepare reports with accuracy. Experience in construction, infrastructure, or project-based environments is advantageous but not essential — what matters most is your technical ability and your approach to working collaboratively with finance and operational stakeholders.
