About the role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic/Trade Assistant to join the team at Orbis Mining Pty Ltd in Mandurah, Western Australia. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in maintaining and supporting our operational equipment and machinery. You will work in a dynamic manufacturing and assembly environment, contributing directly to the efficiency and safety of our operations. This role offers hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, repair and assembly work, supporting our commitment to keeping our operations running smoothly and safely.

What you'll be doing

- Performing routine maintenance and repairs on industrial machinery and equipment

- Assisting experienced mechanics with complex mechanical tasks and troubleshooting

- Assembling and disassembling mechanical components with precision and accuracy

- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and maintenance manuals

- Identifying mechanical faults and reporting issues to senior technicians

- Using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively

- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety standards

- Keeping accurate records of maintenance and repair work completed

- Supporting the team to meet production schedules and operational targets

- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the mechanical department

What we're looking for

- Trade qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, fitter and turner, or related mechanical discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience

- Proven experience working as a mechanic or trade assistant in a manufacturing or industrial environment

- Strong practical knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics

- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and mechanical testing equipment





- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

- A strong commitment to health and safety practices and compliance with workplace regulations

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting

- Valid driver's licence (desirable)

- Relevant mechanical certifications or licences (desirable)
