Main Tasks – Metal Painter
Prepare fabricated steel products, beams, frames and metal components for painting by cleaning, grinding, sanding and removing rust, grease and other contaminants.
Operate industrial spray painting equipment, including conventional and airless spray systems, to apply protective coatings and finishes to metal surfaces.
Mix and prepare paints, primers, hardeners and thinners according to manufacturer specifications and required mixing ratios.
Apply primers, epoxy coatings, polyurethane paints and other protective finishes to meet job specifications and quality standards.
Perform abrasive blasting and other surface preparation activities to ensure proper coating adhesion.
Read and interpret work orders, technical drawings and coating specifications to determine painting requirements.
Position, handle, and mask steel components to ensure accurate, effective paint application.
Monitor coating thickness, surface coverage and drying processes to achieve the required finish.




Inspect painted surfaces for defects, including uneven coatings, runs, overspray, and imperfections, and carry out corrective work as required.
Operate, clean, and maintain spray guns, compressors, paint pumps, and other painting equipment, including routine adjustments.
Identify and report equipment faults, coating defects and production issues to the supervisor.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including the protected handling, storage and disposal of paints, solvents and hazardous materials.
Maintain a clean and organised work area and ensure painting activities meet production schedules and quality requirements.
Work cooperatively with welders, fabricators and other production personnel to support steel manufacturing operations.

Pay: $79,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
