Principal Security Engineer (DevSecOps / Cloud Security)

Join a fast-moving organisation operating a portfolio of digital ventures in a highly regulated workplace. You'll be part of a small, high-calibre security team helping shape security engineering practices across multiple products, platforms and emerging technologies.

Your recent role

This is a genuine hands-on Principal Security Engineer opportunity, not an architecture-only or people-management role.

You'll lead the security engineering roadmap while remaining deeply involved in building and automating security controls across cloud-native environments. Working closely with platform and engineering teams, you'll drive Security as Code, DevSecOps and cloud security initiatives across AWS and Azure.

Key responsibilities include
Leading DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code and Security as Code initiatives
Designing and implementing cloud security controls across AWS and Azure
Building automated guardrails, policies and access controls
Embedding security into CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows
Developing detection capabilities and Microsoft Sentinel use cases
Driving security automation and engineering maturity across the portfolio




Acting as the senior technical SME and mentoring other security engineers
Supporting security strategy for emerging AI and GenAI initiatives

What you'll need to succeed
Staff, Lead or Principal-level security engineering experience
Deep DevSecOps and cloud security expertise
Strong AWS and Azure experience
Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally Terraform
Security automation, Policy as Code and Security as Code capability
Experience with Microsoft Sentinel and detection engineering
Robust understanding of up-to-date CI/CD settings
A hands-on approach combined with strong technical leadership and mentoring skills
