Business Development Manager – Civil & Infrastructure
South-Eastern Suburbs, Melbourne | Full-Time | Company Vehicle + Performance Bonus
Are you a natural hunter who thrives on opening doors and winning new business?
This is an opportunity to drive growth across Victoria for a respected supplier to the civil infrastructure sector, based in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs.
The Prospect
This is an external, field-based role, not a passive account-management position.
You'll spend most of your time out in the market, building relationships with contractors, developers, consultants, councils and infrastructure stakeholders, and turning project intelligence into real revenue.
You'll have the freedom to build your own pipeline, with internal engineering, operations and project teams behind you.
Key Responsibilities
Find and pursue new business across Victoria through outbound calls, networking and market research
Track upcoming projects and tender opportunities, getting the company's solutions in front of customers early
Build long-term commercial partnerships rather than one-off sales
Grow existing accounts while keeping a strong focus on new business
Monitor competitor activity, pricing and products, and share market insights with the wider business
Keep accurate CRM records and an active, visible pipeline with clear next steps
About You
A proven track record of personally winning new customers and opening new accounts
Experience in construction, civil infrastructure, building products, plumbing, water, drainage or another technical, project-based market
Confidence engaging decision-makers and managing longer sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders
Strong commercial discipline: organised, consistent with follow-up and comfortable being accountable for targets
The ability to learn technical products and sell them in a consultative way
Self-motivated and able to work independently, while collaborating closely with sales, operations and project teams
Comfortable with regular customer visits, and holding a current Australian Driver's Licence
Highly regarded: existing networks across Victoria's civil, construction or consulting markets, and experience with specification selling, tenders, project tracking or technical drawings.
Experience from related industries will also be considered.
What's On Offer
Full-time role with a competitive salary
Company vehicle
Performance bonus
Freedom to build your territory and make a visible impact on revenue growth
A role where proactive business development is valued and rewarded
If you're a driven business developer who creates opportunities rather than waiting for leads, we'd love to hear from you.
