Senior Structural Engineer

Our client is a well-established structural engineering consultancy based in Melbourne, known for delivering high-quality commercial and residential building projects across the city.
With a strong pipeline of work and a collaborative, technically-driven team culture, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their growing practice.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior structural engineer to take on a role with genuine autonomy, mentoring responsibilities, and exposure to a diverse range of commercial and residential projects.
You'll work closely with directors and project teams, taking ownership of designs from concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead structural design and documentation for commercial, industrial, retail and residential building projects, from concept through to the construction phase
Manage projects independently, including client liaison, fee proposals, and coordination with architects and other consultants
Review and mentor junior and intermediate engineers, providing technical guidance and quality assurance
Prepare and review structural computations, drawings, and specifications in accordance with relevant Australian Standards
Liaise with builders, certifiers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle




Contribute to the ongoing development of internal design standards and processes
About You
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
CPEng (or eligibility to obtain) with a minimum of 8+ years' post-graduate experience in structural design, ideally within a consulting setting
Strong technical knowledge across a range of structural materials (concrete, steel, timber) and building types
Proficiency with structural analysis software such as Space Gass, ETABS, or similar
Proven experience managing projects and mentoring junior staff
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and project stakeholders
A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and strong attention to detail
