If you're a final year preservice teacher and will undertake your final minimum consecutive 15-day placement in a QLD state school in Semester ****** (13 July to 11 December), you'll be provided with a one-off grant of up to $5,000* to assist with placement-related expenses.
*Keep receipts and seek financial advice regarding potential implications for tax/income/perks.
If you are a current employee of the department, your grant will be taxed.
Final placements do not include lead in days, additional time outside of the placement to complete the GTPA, and Integrated Service-Learning modules.
You are not eligible to apply for the department's professional experience grants if your placement will be undertaken in a non-state school or private school.




If you're an international student who currently resides in Australia and has permission under a Commonwealth Law to study in Australia, you are eligible to apply for this grant.
Evidence of a valid visa and passport is to be submitted with your online application.
Other grants In addition, if you undertake your final minimum consecutive 15-day placement in a regional, rural or remote QLD state school, you may also be eligible for an additional grant of up to $5,000 (dependant on the location and length of the placement) through the:
