A leading financial services organisation is growing its integration team and needs a Senior Automation Test Engineer to raise the bar on quality across its API platform. You’ll work across three delivery squads, two building in Java and Spring Boot and one in MuleSoft and JavaScript, helping them ship API and integration features that are secure, resilient and scalable.

This is a hands-on senior contract with real ownership. You’ll own automation from unit and contract tests through CI/CD pipelines to production, and lead the performance, mocking and observability practices that squads across the wider Technology division build on.

The role

- Design, build and maintain automated test suites for REST APIs, microservices and integrations
- Validate API contracts and schemas (Swagger/OpenAPI, JSON/XML) and test API security
- Automate testing and deployment through CI/CD pipelines all the way to production
- Own performance testing and mocking/service virtualisation, and analyse results through to root cause
- Coach squads on instrumentation and observability, and contribute to the testing Guild

What you’ll bring

- Robust API test automation in Java 11+ and JUnit 5 (Rest Assured), with JavaScript/Node.js a strong advantage
- REST APIs,



microservices architecture and API security, plus Postman, Bruno or SoapUI
- CI/CD with Bamboo or Jenkins, Docker, Gradle/Maven and Git/Bitbucket
- Performance testing (Gatling/JMeter) and mocking (Hoverfly, WireMock, MockServer)
- Observability tooling such as Splunk or New Relic, and experience with distributed tracing

Highly regarded: MuleSoft (MUnit, DataWeave), Spring Cloud, Kubernetes, API gateways, OWASP Top 10, and banking or insurance experience.
