Hunter Current England Local Health District is seeking a Locum General Surgery Consultant / Specialist / VMO to support surgical coverage across the district.

This role is ideal for an experienced General Surgeon wanting a well-paid consultant-level locum, varied acute surgical exposure and strong registrar support.

You will cover the surgical on-call roster, review acute surgical presentations, support clinical decision-making and escalate care where required.

Clinical Environment

Key Duties

- Provide surgical on-call cover
- Review and manage acute surgical presentations
- Support clinical decision-making and escalation of care
- Complete documentation, handover and management plans
- Work collaboratively with surgical, nursing and hospital teams

Requirements

- Current AHPRA Specialist Registration
- Recent General Surgery consultant-level experience
- GESA certification required
- Strong communication, leadership and clinical judgement




- Ability to complete SDPR training prior to commencement
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
