About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a highly regarded investment management business seeking a Tax Director to lead the tax function across a diverse range of investment structures and asset classes.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role will provide strategic tax oversight across the investment lifecycle, partnering closely with investment, finance, legal, risk, operations, and investor relations teams. You'll play a key role in shaping tax strategy, managing complex transactions, overseeing compliance and governance, and acting as a trusted adviser to both internal and external stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced funds tax skilled looking to operate as a genuine business partner while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex technical matters.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead all tax matters across a portfolio of investment funds and related entities.
- Provide strategic tax advice on fund structuring, new products, acquisitions, disposals, and investment transactions.
- Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance, including income tax, GST, FATCA, CRS, and international tax considerations.
- Review and approve fund distribution calculations, tax disclosures, investor reporting, and annual tax statements.
- Partner with investment, finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax considerations are embedded within commercial decision-making.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisers, auditors, regulators, and service providers.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assessing implications for the business and investment structures.
- Provide technical guidance on complex tax matters, including trust taxation, managed investment structures, withholding tax,



cross-border investments, and tax governance frameworks.
- Lead tax risk management initiatives and ensure robust controls are maintained across the organisation.
- Support due diligence activities, transaction execution, and post-acquisition integration from a tax perspective.
- Present tax insights and recommendations to senior executives, boards, and investment committees where required.
- Mentor and develop junior members of the finance and tax teams.

About You

- 10+ years of tax experience gained within funds management, financial services, Big 4, or a related investment environment.
- Strong knowledge of investment funds, trust structures, and the taxation of collective investment vehicles.
- Demonstrated experience advising on complex transactions and investment structures.
- Deep understanding of Australian tax legislation with exposure to international tax matters highly regarded.
- CA, CPA and/or CTA qualified.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-tax professionals.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance risk, compliance, and business objectives.
- Proven leadership capability and experience managing senior stakeholders.
