Join a well established independent school in Brisbane’s northside as their new Payroll Officer. Joining the finance team and reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll take ownership of fortnightly payroll for approximately 300 employees.

The opportunity
You’ll manage payroll across teaching and support staff, including full-time, part-time, term-time and casual employees. This is a hands-on position where accuracy matters, alongside the ability to build relationships and help staff understand their pay and entitlements.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Processing end-to-end fortnightly payroll, including casual timesheets.
- Maintaining employee records and calculating leave, backpay and termination payments.
- Managing superannuation, PAYG, STP and year-end finalisation.
- Reconciling leave accruals and preparing payroll reports and monthly journal information.
- Responding to staff queries and applying enterprise agreement and award provisions.
- Supporting payroll budgeting and identifying opportunities to improve processes.

About you




You’ll bring practical payroll experience, solid attention to detail and confidence managing deadlines independently. You’ll be comfortable interpreting awards and enterprise agreements, investigating discrepancies and communicating clearly with a range of colleagues.

Intermediate Excel skills are required. Previous school payroll experience would be an advantage, though candidates from other industries are encouraged to apply.

A Blue Card will be required to commence in this role.
