Own the fleet. Lead the installs. Shape the product from what you see in the field.

Our client designs, builds and deploys a complex water quality monitoring system for water utilities across Australia. They build around 20 to 30 units a year, each installed on site and monitored remotely. Their field lead of four years is moving on, and they need someone with real experience to take over the fleet.

The role is split between the Richmond office and sites around the country. You’ll run every deployment from scoping to commissioning, manage the contractors who service the fleet, and feed what you learn in the field back into the product.

What you’ll be doing

- Working with Sales and customers to scope installs, then owning site qualification, pre-deployment prep, shipping and commissioning
- Managing subcontractors for installation and ongoing service, and training them on maintenance procedures
- Monitoring fleet health and performance data, and spotting service needs early
- Diagnosing system issues and working with the product team on root cause and fixes
- Keeping control of the hardware and software configurations deployed to each customer
- Running quality checks on the data customers receive
- Writing and maintaining field documentation: site surveys, procedures, checklists and safety documents
- Running field trials, including validation work with independent labs
- Helping with assembly and testing in the office, and contributing to electro-mechanical and fluidic design

Who will you be working with?

You’ll report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with the Product Owner, Project Managers and the Sales team. You’ll be part of an 18-person engineering team, all based in Australia. The team is small and close, and the systems team will back you up on root cause analysis.

What’s on offer

- Employee share options
- Commission on units you help sell
- Annual performance and salary review
- Company ute for work travel
- Full training on the system and its software
- A chance to grow the role as the fleet expands, especially into Queensland

What you’ll bring

- At least 3 years in a field service, commissioning or technical role
- A systems, electronic, mechanical or software engineering background, or equivalent experience
- Hands-on strength across electromechanical and fluidic systems. You can work out whether a pump is pumping or a line is blocked
- Experience dealing with trades, plant operators and site managers on industrial sites
- Bonus points for experience with environmental or scientific monitoring equipment, or with ISO 9001 or ISO 17025 quality systems
- A current driver’s licence and comfort with travel: a monthly regional Victoria day trip, plus 5 to 6 interstate trips a year of 2 to 6 nights
- No electrical licence needed
