Caboolture

Osborne Richardson is assisting the City of Moreton Bay in its search for two experienced Rangers to join its Local Laws team on a contract basis — frontline compliance professionals who can lead investigations and get results through education as much as enforcement.

You'll investigate breaches of State and local laws across one of Queensland's fastest-growing cities, covering everything from animal management and abandoned vehicles to illegal camping, signage, overgrown land and the use of beaches, parks and foreshores.

This role suits someone who enjoys working with the community. You'll build positive relationships with residents and businesses, use sound judgement and discretion in sensitive situations, and see matters through from first enquiry to brief of evidence.

Key Responsibilities

- Investigate alleged breaches of State and local laws and initiate appropriate enforcement action
- Act as an authorised officer, issuing directions, compliance notices, stop orders, enforcement notices and penalty infringement notices
- Undertake proactive compliance patrols of beaches, parks, reserves, roads and other Council-controlled land
- Manage investigations with a solid customer focus, making timely enquiries and gathering evidence
- Impound abandoned vehicles, stray animals (including cats, dogs and livestock), unlawful advertising devices and goods on Council land

- Assist with the delivery of compliance programs, including cat and dog registration programs
- Compile written statements and briefs of evidence, and appear as a witness in courts and tribunals
- Work collaboratively with the community to promote compliance and encourage positive behaviours

About You

- Proven experience conducting compliance investigations and enforcement actions in a regulatory environment
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, including Council local laws and State acts and regulations
- Experience in the humane and lawful handling and impoundment of domestic animals and livestock is highly regarded
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparing professional correspondence and reports
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Confident using case management systems, databases and mobile applications
- Strong time management and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A solid commitment to workplace health and safety in field operations
- Professionalism, integrity and discretion when handling sensitive matters
- Current C Class driver's licence
