At Hardie Grant Children’s Publishing, we believe every child deserves a favourite book.
As the young readers’ division of one of Australia’s leading independent publishers, we’re passionate about creating books that spark imagination, inspire curiosity and foster a lifelong love of reading.
We’re looking for a highly organised, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Publishing Administrative Assistant to join our Melbourne team.
This is a fantastic chance for someone who loves children’s books, enjoys juggling a variety of tasks and is keen to build a career in publishing. Working across our publishing, brands and international rights teams, you’ll gain valuable behind-the-scenes experience and play an important role in helping bring brilliant books to young readers.
About the role
Working closely with our publishing, brands and rights teams, you’ll play a key role in keeping our publishing processes running smoothly and helping bring great books to readers in Australia and around the world.
No two days will be quite the same. You’ll be working across everything from metadata and book information to international rights administration, ebook coordination and award submissions.
You will:
- Support our publishing teams with title information, metadata and general publishing administration.
- Coordinate book materials, samples, ebook files and digital assets.
- Assist our rights team with submissions, invoices and other administrative processes.
- Help prepare materials for our sales and marketing teams and coordinate book award entries.
- Provide general administrative support across the division, working with a range of teams and stakeholders.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Exceptionally organised, with great attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- A confident communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive, resourceful and happy to roll up their sleeves to get things done.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to quickly pick up new systems.
- A collaborative team player who enjoys working with different people.
- Genuinely passionate about children’s books and interested in building a career in publishing.
Previous publishing experience will be taken into consideration but we’re equally interested in someone with the right attitude, strong administrative skills and a willingness to learn.
What we offer
This is a full time position based at our Collingwood head office in Melbourne. You’ll join a creative, collaborative and passionate team and gain hands-on experience across several areas of children’s publishing.
If you’re someone who loves a well-organised to-do list, takes pride in getting the details right and is excited by the idea of working behind the scenes to bring brilliant books to life, we’d love to hear from you.
